The Ultimate Travel Baseball Roadtrip Checklist

O the beautiful places travel baseball can take you…Hoover, East Cobb, PBR at LakePoint, Westfield, Palm Beaches…. With such exotic scenes awaiting, it’s easy to run out the door and forget some key items that make your trip more manageable. Never fear, this checklist will help ensure you have everything you need to finish on top of the 400 teams that could await you. It doesn’t include the basics like a bat, toothbrush and a swimsuit, but captures some items you probably didn’t think of:

  • Clothing: sliding pants, elbow/shin/hand guard, grass and turf cleats (for those wonderful fake mounds)
  • Weather protection: sunscreen, umbrella, towel, tent, battery-powered fan, sunglasses, cooling towel
  • Diet: protein power, cherry juice (to help with post-pitching recovery)
  • Health: anti-inflammatory, bandaids for the inevitable raspberries
  • Technology: Blast or DK sensor, radar gun (for the non-PG and PBR tournaments)
  • Sleep: white noise machine, room darkening shade, mattress topper, fan
  • Pitching warm-up and recovery: j-bands, lacrosse ball, Thera gun, MarcPro, ArmCare
  • Training: yoga mat, medicine ball, foam roller
  • Work on the road: ring light, wireless headphones, chargers
  • Podcasts for the trip: Listen to this baseball podcast list
  • Other: detergent, cooler, chairs. Look at these tips of disciples that can help youth baseball improve

Beyond the list, use the time to connect individually with your child. If you’re a Christian, invest in athlete discipleship to not lose sight of what’s truly important.
